▸ El Grupo Logitravel, que en 2019 alcanzó una facturación de 800 millones, ha declarado que sus previsiones son que el mercado recupere niveles de 2019 a mediados de 2022.

▸ Pedro Cámara, CEO de TravelgateX, ha declarado en una entrevista que el marketplace de compraventa de productos turísticos vio caer el negocio un 70% este año, lo que les ha obligado a bajar considerablemente la previsión para 2020, año en el que esperaban crecer un 80%.

▸ Un equipo del Institut d’Investigació Sanitària de Balears (IdISBa) ha elaborado un nuevo test capaz de pronosticar, en apenas diez minutos, con qué gravedad afectará a cada paciente el COVID-19.

▸ Por otro lado, un equipo de investigación en Nutrigenómica y Obesidad de la Universidad de les Illes Balears y del Centro de Investigación Biomédica (CIBEROBN), ha publilcado un estudio en la revista científica Nutrients en el cual analizan la influencia de los nutrientes en la prevención de la COVID-19. El estudio considera principalmente las vitaminas E, D, C, B6, B9 y B12 y los minerales hierro, zinc, cobre y selenio con una participación demostrada en el mantenimiento saludable del sistema inmune.

▸ La doctora en psicología clínica Mar Rus Calafell ha sido reconocida con uno de los premios de investigación mejor dotados de Alemania y recibirá más de 1,5 millones para profundizar en su trabajo sobre salud mental en gente joven.

▸ Travel Compositor anuncia su tercera patente en tres meses: TC MBox. Una herramienta definitiva para generar cross-selling tras una primera reserva o multiplicar el revenue por reserva. Se trata de una caja que se coloca en páginas de confirmación y es en si un motor de multi cross-selling que permite ofrecer todo tipo de servicios alrededor de esa primera reserva.

▸ March Private Equity, gestora de capital riesgo de Banca Marchpone en marcha March PE Global I, un fondo de fondos que invertirá en private equity internacional. Se trata del primer programa de March Private Equity , gestora de capital riesgo a través de la que la entidad desarrollará una gama de productos de private equity internacional.

▸ La agencia de Barcelona Plan Comunicación se integra oficialmente con la mallorquina Patterson Agency.

▸ Entrevista con Maxime Renaudin, cofundador de hotelbreak, donde explica como el concepto daycation de la startup está convirtiendo los hoteles vacíos en lugares de entretenimiento.

▸ La cadena Protur Hotels pondrá en marcha a finales de este mes la macroinstalación de un parque fotovoltaico ubicado en una finca de 30.000 metros cuadrados. Una iniciativa pionera en Europa que servirá para suministrar cinco hoteles y un spa en sa Coma.

▸ The startup hotelbreak, a platform that offers access to hotel services for those who do not stay in them, has announced an investment round of 310,000€ by different business angels.

▸ Forbes has included the management team of the biotechnology company based in ParcBit NuMat Medtech, Antonio Caldentey (CEO), Marta Monjo (CSO) and Joana Maria Ramis Morey (Lab Director) in the list of the 100 most creative Spaniards in the business world.

▸ Announced the II Call for the Robot Scholarship have already been published. This scholarship created last year by the company Robot, pays for 100% of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering of the University of the Balearic Islands for a UIB’s Industrial Engineering Degree student.

▸ Report on the IMEDEA-CSIC marine ecology research group which, together with the Systems, Robotics and Vision (SRV) research group of the UIB, have launched the INVHALI research project; whose main objective is to study, detect and eradicate the invasive species that attack the Posidonia through the use of a remote-controlled submarine and catamaran.

▸ hotelbreak’s daycations arrive at Lisbon and Porto thanks to Hilton Hotels, the platform already has more than 150 hotels that collaborate to offer their day experiences online. El Español made a profile of the company and have delved into the daycation concept and its advantages for hotels.

▸ UIB’s Graphics, Vision and Artificial Intelligence Unit has developed Facetomood, an intelligent system that analyzes facial expressions and movements through the mobile camera to identify your state of mind. One more step to those that already exist and allows evaluating in real-time of a person’s mood, not just the emotions of a specific moment. They’re looking to transfer this technology to the business sector. An app is already published on Google Play to test the technology.

Laminar Pharmaceuticals, a Mallorcan biotech company based in Parc Bit and a subsidiary in Massachusetts (United States), is preparing to go public on the stock market by the end of the year with the aim of accessing new sources of external financing and strengthening its expansion plans. Laminar has among its products the research of Minerval, a medicine against brain cancer.

▸ The platform SPORT&APPS, dedicated to developing mobile applications linked to sports and tourism, has announced its integration with Garmin devices, which will be available in all its apps.

▸ The Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca opens a new public call for grants to prevent cybersecurity risks in companies. The ultimate goal of this program is to contribute to the digital transformation of SMEs. The program consists of two phases: Counseling (free personalized diagnosis for the company) and Grants (the company receives up to a maximum of 1,600 euros).

Inturea‘s series of talks with different companies in the tourism sector continue. Last week they spoke to Pablo Rubial, co-founder of Boatjump, an online platform that has more than 20,000 boats available for rent.

Caixabank has installed three facial recognition ATMs in the Balearic Islands, which allow users to withdraw money and perform other actions thanks to user recognition with the image captured by the terminal’s camera and without the need to manually enter a PIN code. The ATMs are located in Borne (Palma), Magaluf and Ciutadella.

▸ Essentialist, the startup that offers a personalized travel planning service, exclusively for members, has closed a 1.17 million euros financing round from a leading group of Spanish and international investors led by venture capital firms Sabadell Venture Capital and Turtle Capital.
