▸ offUgo, the next-gen car rental company in tourist locations, has closed a round of 600,000 euros with the participation of Sabadell BStartup10, Draper B1, Think Bigger Capital and business angel Andreas Mihalovits.

▸ Operation Highjump, the videogame developed by the Mansion Games, successfully closed its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. It achieved its initial goal in just 12 hours and has ended up raising more than 60,000 euros.

▸ Palma City Council, victim of a more than 300.000€ phishing fraud. It was committed using a false certificate of bank ownership, which presented the bank’s official seal and an electronic signature.

▸ Govern Balear has authorized the Health Service to contract the implementation service of a new electronic prescription system, RELE WEB, for an estimated value of 4.8 million euros.

▸ From investing 15,000 euros to a 10 million turnover. Report on the Yuccs sneakers brand in OK Diario.

OK Mobility will introduce Bitcoin as a payment option for services purchased via their website. The company will be the first in the industry in Spain, and one of the first worldwide to accept cryptocurrency as a payment option.

Netflie has released the first PHP API to send and receive messages using a cloud-hosted version of the WhatsApp Business Platform.

▸ The Balearic Islands generated the first green hydrogen molecules in Spain and southern Europe. The Government of the Balearic Islands has invested 3.75 million euros in this project, led by ACCIONA Energía and Enagás, with the participation of CEMEX and IDAE. The plant will generate up to 300 tons of green hydrogen per year, produced 100% from photovoltaic plants, and could reduce CO2 emissions by up to 20,700 tons per year.

▸ Cycling Friendly, a company specialized in cycling tourism, launches its new metasearch engine. A platform that allows you to book accommodation adapted for cycle tourists, consult information on cycling events and access a catalog of cycling routes.

▸ This is not the first time this has been published, but it has been announced that construction of the ParcBit subway will begin in April 2022 with an investment of 21.6 million euros from European funds.

▸ The Balearic Parliament adds to the long list of victims of the attack of cybercriminals. Agents of the Economic Crime and Technological Crimes Group of the National Police arrested a 41-year-old Mexican woman as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of 17,000 euros from the Balearic Parliament.

▸ Govern and UIB are outlining a joint plan to create a Cybersecurity Innovation Unit to prevent cyber attacks in institutions, small, medium and large companies, as well as individuals. The objective is to be operational as soon as possible due to the increase of cybercrime in the Balearic Islands.

▸ The US FDA classifies LaminarPharma’s cancer drug LAM561 as an orphan drug. LAM561 is a molecule derived from oleic acid that has been shown to be highly effective against glioma, a very aggressive type of brain tumor for which there is no effective treatment.

The Balearic Islands Tax Agency’s app is now available for mobile devices. For the first time, you can manage and check the local and regional taxes from your mobile phone.

▸ Wireless DNA and Bitaqua sign a strategic alliance. Thanks to the synergies that occur with the incorporation of Bitaqua, Wireless DNA expands its verticals to incorporate within its Smart Entropy platform. #MTN153: Bersity closes a 240K€ investment round; Tramuntana Tech Talks 2021

▸ Bersity has just closed a 240,000€ investment round led by the investment fund The Valley Venture Capital. The online education platform has sold more than 1,500 courses in 15 countries and has gained more than 3,000 registered users to date.

▸ The company REM Experience has developed an educational tool that allows Menorcan students in 1st ESO to build their own talaiot through a video game. They have also established a collaboration with the enterprise Applus+ for which it has developed a 3D tool to simulate the inspection of any type of vehicle without the need to physically have it in front of you.

▸ Last year, 11,800 cases of cybercrime were reported in the islands, 38 percent more than in 2020, according to the latest Study on Cybercrime in Spain prepared by the Ministry of the Interior. The archipelago is the fourth province, after Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, where more cases are detected.

▸ Palma joins the city councils of San Sebastián, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Málaga in digitising the Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) with European funds. The project includes the virtualisation of the citizen card, the digitisation of fleet management and the installation of smart bus shelters.

During her seven years at the company, Laura has pivoted its model, transforming it into an online brand protection and counterfeit detection SaaS, operating globally around the world. In August 2018, Red Points was named one of “Europe’s most popular start-ups” by Wired magazine. In the coming year, the company expects to increase its turnover by 50% to €25m.
